Nearly one and a half years have passed since the German federal cabinet adopted its LGBTI Inclusion Strategy for Foreign Policy and Development Cooperation”. The government thereby commits to making the protection of LGBTI rights an integral part of its foreign policy and development cooperation work. The document is viewed as a model on the international stage.

Dr. Frank Mugisha (38) is a human rights activist from Uganda and Executive Director of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) which works for the rights of LGBTIQ+ people. He was born and grew up in Kampala, and was raised a Christian.

Dédé Oetomo – To build a life in which we can be ourselves, without negative consequences

Dédé Oetomo (68) is known as the godfather of the Indonesian LGBTIQ+ movement. He is a social scientist, AIDS activist, and role model for generations of young Indonesians. For his work as a human rights activist, Oetomo was honoured back in 1998 by the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (today’s OutRight Action International).
