In der Tat erlauben die Gesetze und Vorschriften unseres Landes keine gleichgeschlechtliche Liebe, obwohl wir in unserem Land sehr zahlreich sind. Wir versuchen, von unserer Regierung zumindest eine rechtliche Anerkennung zu bekommen, damit wir nicht länger Belästigungen und Verletzungen unserer Rechte erfahren müssen.

Online talk with experts from Sweden and Canada
On 12 May 2021 the Hirschfeld-Eddy Foundation (HES) held an online talk about LGBTI inclusion in the development cooperation work of both Sweden and Canada. The event was hosted by Sarah Kohrt. The guests from Sweden were Birgitta Weibahr from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and Marie Månson from the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Rights (RFSL). Doug Kerr, Executive Director of Dignity Network Canada, a coalition of Canadian organizations supporting LGBTI human rights, provided information from a Canadian perspective.

Am 12. Mai 2021 führte die Hirschfeld-Eddy-Stiftung (HES) einen Online Talk zum Thema LSBTI-Inklusion in Schwedens und Kanadas Entwicklungszusammenarbeit (EZ) durch. Die Veranstaltung wurde von Sarah Kohrt moderiert. But homosexuality is still criminalized under article 230, and large-scale protests have broken out numerous times since November 2020. Reports of arbitrary detention, violence and oppression against civil society are on the rise – what exactly is going on in the country?

Im April 2021 erscheint Mark Gevissers faszinierendes Buch „Die pinke Linie. Weltweite Kämpfe um sexuelle Selbstbestimmung und Geschlechtsidentität“.
Gevisser, 1964 in Johannesburg geboren, gilt als einer der wichtigsten Autoren Südafrikas. Er publiziert in den Leitmedien seiner Heimat zu politischen und kulturellen Themen der Regenbogennation. Mit einem Stipendium der Open Society Foundation bereiste er über zwanzig Länder und schrieb Artikel über LSBTI und deren Kämpfe in aller Welt. „The Pink Line“ erschien letztes Jahr in den USA.

Ten years after the Arab Spring uprising for democracy in Tunisia, the country is seeing an increasing number of protests as objection to the ongoing political unrest and the poor status of the economy. Protestors are on the streets, activists criticize authorities online, and rights groups blame the police for cracking down on them. Human rights activists estimate that about 2,000 people have been arrested so far this year, amongst them many LGBTI*Q+.
